Permutrix Desktop 1.2.1 returned to itch.io with a rebuilt package, a reorganized editor, clearer terminology, refreshed patterns, and a browser demo that introduces the core idea without pretending to be the full app.
A return with a clearer product definition
Distribution briefly paused while legal and administrative details were reviewed. The 1.2.1 relaunch resumed distribution with a cleaner explanation of what Permutrix is: a Windows art-variation tool that combines the parts and layers supplied by the artist.
The visual output is not generated by an AI image model. Every result is assembled from user-provided assets, layer structure, colors, transforms, and variation rules.
What changed in 1.2.1
- The start screen, project flow, and editing workspace were reorganized for easier navigation.
- Joint became the consistent term for pivot and parent-child relationships across the app, samples, help, and manual.
- Circle patterns received visibility and spacing fixes, while Frame joined the available pattern presets.
- The bundled sample projects were refreshed with saved results so a new user can explore immediately.
The web demo and Desktop have different jobs
The guided atom demo is a small browser introduction with prepared assets. It demonstrates the rhythm of combining parts and rerolling variations, but it does not import personal artwork or replace the Desktop editor.
Permutrix Desktop remains the complete authoring workspace for real projects, deeper controls, batch review, project storage, and export.
